What is the difference between Christian churches and Restorationists in general? There are not many essential differences. Our faith in Jesus and our belief in the Holy Trinity are the same as those of Protestant churches. A significant difference is that we go all the way back to the biblical roots and practice few traditions and ceremonies adopted since then in our religion. Our church also has similarly ordained female clergy who are respected and have the same role or level as men in everything.

What is the most significant difference from the beliefs of other Christians? The doctrine of the openness of revelation. This means that according to our understanding, God spoke even after the last lines of the Bible were written and still speaks to people in our more complicated times. From this, it follows that we also accept as scripture other works written by inspired people who, like the writers of the Bible, did so as instruments of God.

What do Restorationists have to do with Mormons? The two churches have the same roots and the same founder. But Mormons broke away from the original church during their persecution, migrated thousands of miles west, formed an independent group, and became quite different in their religious beliefs from the Restorationists.

What are the main differences between the beliefs and practices of Mormons and Restorationists? There are many very important differences. Mormons also believe in "Heavenly Mother", according to them there are several gods in other worlds, and even our god lived in one of these worlds as a man before. In other words, according to them, even the most faithful people today can become gods, they can create their own world as gods, etc. They imagine a three-level heaven, but unmarried men and women cannot enter the highest level; only those who have the sacrament of temple marriage. Marriage can also be an eternal marriage valid in the afterlife. ("Together forever" is written on the tombstones covering most Mormon couples.) Also, unlike Restorationists, Mormons officially proclaimed legal, sanctified polygamy and did not stop practicing it on earth until the end of the 19th century. Spiritually and in the afterlife, polygamy still exists among them, meaning that men who have entered into an eternal marriage but are widowed can enter into another "eternal" marriage. (This right is not available to women.) Of the many different Bible translations available in English, the Restorationists use the so-called Inspired Version prepared by the founder of the religion, while the Mormons have rejected this in favor of the King James English version. The Restorationists' temples are gentle places of prayer, freely accessible to everyone, while the Mormons' closed temples, accessible only to worthy church members, hold secret initiatory and proxy ceremonies.

The head of the Mormons is a prophet, an infallible seer, while the president of the Restorationists is only human and therefore not infallible. His spiritual and secular decisions regarding the life of the church must be democratically approved at the annual world conference. It is also important that the Restorationists use the symbol of the self-sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the cross, the same way as other Christian churches. For Mormons, the upright, not inverted cross is also a symbol of the devil, intended to spread the sadness of suffering.

1. Who can be a member of the Restorationist church? In fact, everyone who feels they can respond to Jesus' call best within the framework and religious practices of this church: "If you believe in me, come and do for me". But of course, as there are many different kinds of people, many different callings and practices are possible. Still, there are still many who are "deaf" to this call.

Mi a különbség általában a keresztény egyházak és a resztoránusok között?

Nincs nagyon sok lényegbevágó különbség. Jézushitünk és a Szentháromságba vetett hitünk a protestáns egyházakéval azonos. Lényeges eltérés, hogy mi egészen a bibliai gyökerekhez nyúlunk vissza és kevés azóta felvett hagyományt, szertartást gyakorlunk vallásunkban.

Egyházunknak a férfiakkal mindenben azonos megbecsülésű és szerepű vagy szintű, hasonlóan felszentelt női papi tisztségviselői is vannak.

Mi a leglényegesebb eltérés más keresztények felfogásától?

A kinyilatkoztatások lezáratlanságának tana. Ez azt jelenti, hogy felfogásunk szerint Isten a Biblia utolsó sorainak leírása után is szólt és a mai bonyolultabb korunkban is szól az emberekhez. Ebből következik az is, hogy ugyancsak szentírásnak fogadunk el olyan inspirált állapotban lévő emberek által leírt más műveket is, akik a Biblia leíróihoz hasonlóan Isten eszközeiként tették ezt.


Mi a köze a resztoránusoknak a mormonokhoz?

A két egyháznak azonosak a gyökerei, azonos a vallásalapítója. Ám a mormonok az üldöztetések során kiváltak az eredeti egyházból, többezer kilométerre nyugatra vándorolva önálló csoportot alkottak és a resztoránusoktól meglehetősen különböző vallási felfogásúvá váltak.

Mik a főbb különbségek a mormonok és a resztoránusok hite ill. gyakorlata között?

Nagyon sok igen lényeges különbség van. A mormonok "Mennyei Anyá"-ban is hisznek, szerintük több isten is van más világokban, sőt a mi istenünk az egyik ilyen világban élt azelőtt emberként. Vagyis szerintük a mostani leghithűbb emberek is istenekké válhatnak, istenként saját világot teremthetnek majd maguknak, stb.

Háromszintű mennyországot képzelnek el, de a legmagasabb szintűbe nőtlenek és hajadonok semmiképpen sem juthatnak, csak a templomi házasságkötés szentségével rendelkezők. A házasságkötés lehet a túlvilágon is érvényes örök házasságkötés is. ("Together forever" áll a mormon házaspárok többségét fedő sírköveken)

A resztoránusokkal ugyancsak ellentétben a mormonok hivatalosan kihirdették a törvényes, megszentelt többnejűséget és ennek földi gyakorlásától csak a XIX. század végén álltak el. Spirituálisan ill. a túlvilági viszonylatokban ma is él náluk a többnejűség, azaz örök házasságot kötött, de megözvegyült férfiak újabb "örök" házasságot is köthetnek. (Ez a jog a nőket nem illeti meg.)

A resztoránusok az angol nyelven fellelhető sok különböző bibliafordítás közül a vallásalapító által készített un. inspirált fordítást használják, míg a mormonok ezt a King James féle angol változat kedvéért elvetették.

A resztoránusok templomai szelíd imahelyek, mindenki által szabadon látogathatóak, míg a mormonok zárt, csak arra érdemesített egyháztagok által látogatható templomaiban titkos beavatási és halottakért történő szertartások zajlanak.

A mormon egyházfő próféta, csalhatatlan látnok, míg a resztoránusok elnöke csak ember és ezért nem tévedhetetlen. Az egyház életével kapcsolatos spirituális és világi jellegű döntéseit az évenkénti világkonferencián kell demokratikusan elfogadtatnia.

Fontos még, hogy a resztoránusok Jézus Krisztus önfeláldozásának szimbólumát, a keresztet a többi keresztény egyházhoz hasonló természetességgel használják. A mormonok számára az egyenesen álló, nem fordított kereszt is az ördög jelképe, mely a szenvedés szomorúságát hivatott terjeszteni.

Ki lehet a resztoránus egyház tagja?

Tulajdonképpen mindenki aki úgy érzi, hogy ennek az egyháznak a keretei és vallásformája mellett tud a leginkább megfelelni Jézus hívásának: "Ha hiszel bennem, jöjj és tegyél értem". De természetesen ahány ember, annyiféle elhivatottság és forma lehetséges. Bár még mindig nagyon sokan vannak akik erre a hívásra "süketek".
